  This is a game that clearly has not aged well, unlike some games from its era. The graphics are decent, for the time period, but that's about it. You'd exepct a game that's essentially a six degrees of freedom shooter to have appropriate controls, but the controls are more like a FPS, which does not mesh well with what's going on.
  
  The story is... Confusing to say the least. I was able to determine that, after a terrible nuclear war, humanity began living underwater. Beyond that, I'm not sure what's going on. The audio balancing on the cutscenes is so bad I could barely make out the voices past the music. The conversations are so seemingly random, with the plot simple jumping in several points without warning.
  
  Perhaps the game's worst offense, and it's one that's seen a lot in games of this era, is the terrible escort/protect the objective missions. The game throws so many enemies/turrets at you at once and your allies will blindly follow their programmed path that protecting them, or an objective, is so incredibly difficult that it's hard not to just skip levels. Even playing on Easy, which was proving overall unchallenging, I failed each and every protect/escort mission several times.
  
  The idea is great, the world is interesting, but the game itself is more of an excerise in patience.. A very good game, excelent setting with great execution. Gameplay is also fantastic and hard.. Some players argue and say that this game is bad. Because they did not play the game in 2001 when this game was the top ... and she is still the top and always will be. It is normal some angry school kids, who L2P games where you do random shi*!! who don't know old games, because old school games never dies.
  Respect (Massive Development) those who made this game on (KRASS) Engine. 10/10 ... and aquanox fans, gamers or thoes who played back in time in 2001, will understand what im say :) .. this game is good and Aquanox 2 is also very good, for 2003, "DAT" game was awsome, graphic was amaizing!!

  . Great game. I still play it from time to time :) Note: Aquanox 1 works great with old-school ball mouse. Optic & Laser mouses tend to lag while in fights.. Camera controls are a bit wonky and the voice acting is painfull, but other then that it's a damn fine game.. A good shooting game which is underwater in the very far future. I have no idea what the people are saying when they yap on in the dialogue but I understand some of what happens in the action scenes. Out of nowhere you get to fight giant squids which makes you really wonder what the ♥♥♥♥ is happening, but you should buy it if you like old shooting games.. TL:DR Aquanox is the kind of game you call a solid 6. Its not great and has lots of flaws, but it's decent for a romp.(also see my final verdinct, pros and cons at the end)
  
  To start off with the visuals. They were ok then, and they are passable for their age, but I think they could do better even back in the day when the game came out.
  
  Soundwise the game is average with ok-ish sounds for weapons, good sounds for torpedoes and a repetitious soundtrack.
  Voiceacting is wierd. It's exaggerated in a cartoonish way in some instances, while its good in some others.
  
  In regards to the story, I found the characters to be enjoyable and the overall plot interesting, but they do leave a lot to be desired. For starters, characters are introduced out of the blue and with no context, with no proper development, and with some being one time affairs. dont be surpised if you find it hard to care about even for main characters. The story up next, it is a few centuries after a cataclysmic event that rendered the surface of the earth uninhabbitable, with the survivors moving into underwater cities. It has been five years after a war against some biomechanical beings known as the bionts, your character, flint fought in that war and lost a good friend in order for a chance to win that war. Unfortunately this is mostly inconsequential to the overall story. Much like the characters the various factions(be it normal or antagonistic) are not properly introduced. One other thing is that major events in the game are not treated properly and they feel insignificant with the ending treated in such manner, resulting in an anticlimactic closure.
  
  Diving into the gameplay, if you played Descent then this is not that far off, but not quite there. While you can strafe its not all that fast and you cant slide up or down. I think the devs tried to make it feel like its a submarine vehicular game, but its not really doing it properly either. It is stuck somewhere in between. This also results in the worst possible mouse aim ever. The mouse acceleration in aquanox is awful. Even after quite a bit of tweaking, it still needs some getting used to and it makes the game more difficult than it should be. If you cant you are out of luck. If you do, the shooting is fairly enjoyable and satisfying, just dont crank the difficulty too high.
  
  And this is not the end of it. When I first started the game I expected something along the lines of Novalogics Tachyon: the fringe, where you have a go at a branching mission path with side missions and all. There none of that here. It creates a feel that this is what you get yourself into, but in reality, this game is absolutely linear. No branching path, no side missions, nothing. This game is not replayable at all, and the fact it has a form of skirmish does not help at all, as you cant decide what ship and weapons to take
  
  And its not like you are given the opportunity to do any sort of experimentation with the equipment either. The upgrade path is as linear as the rest of the game. You dont get sidegrades. Every new piece of equipment is objectively better than the last and thats what you should get, the end. It renders concepts like earning money and upgrading meaningless. you might as well be given the lasest ship and weapons without buying them. And speaking of weapons, I found torpedoes not to be mostly ineffective and alternative firemodes for guns are outright useless, not to mentions that there are features that are usless themselves, like EMP which is usefull for only a few missions before you never use them again, and the same goes for silent running which is not a thing beyond a couple of missions.
  
  Annoyingly you get wingmen, and I say annoyingly because sometimes they are usesfull and someother times they either fail to follow you to the next point or they just die too fast. But wait, there's more. They completely lack any form of personalised ability, they all perform the same, to top it all off, you cant choose who comes with you, you cant choose their ships, you cant choose what weapons they get to use, you can't even give them commands. At least they are helpful in some crutial moments in the game that you couldn't do it by yourself otherwise
  
  Finally the game is not all that stable in some parts it has the tendency to crash, but not always. Just make sure to ALWAYS SAVE before a mission, because the damn game doesn't autosave. There have been a few instances where the game crashed on me and I hadn't saved and I ended up 3 missions back.
  
  MY FINAL VERDICT on this is that its ok. You will get some enjoyment out of the shooting and plot/characters, provided you can get used to the controls and get past the narative shortcomings and the linearity and lack of replayability. I would say that you might want to wait for a sale, but it's still ok at its full price.

  -Terrible mouse controls that take some getting used to even after some tweaking

  -No control over wingmen whatsoever
  -EMP and silent running are used in only a handful of missions but are useless otherwise.
  -Significant plot elements are not treated with the importance they deserve
  -Anticlimacting ending
  -Poorly introduced hard to care for characters
  -Plot holes resulting from problematic naration
  -Absolute linearity in mission progression and upgrades kill replayability and experimentation.. I remember when I played this way back when it was released. Good memories!
  It is still a lot of fun to play, but you might need to fiddle around a little to get it to work properly on recent hardware
  (there is a bug with the usb polling rate of modern usb mouses).
  Non the less once you get it to work you'll have plenty of fun!

  It is simply incredible how a game this old still attracts my attention even after completing it several times. Of course, additional challenge such as Steam achievements help a bit, too. :)
  
  I have always wondered, however, how come no sequel has ever been made.... an RTS that will never be outdone. Heads up.... Doesnt work on windows 7!!! windows 10 only. Really fun, my og cd broke around a year ago and this remake is almost the same, the only difference is better graphics witch. My favorate part is the free dlc it comes with. Unlike EA, whoever made this is not greedy shacks of\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665 That's right, no horrible microtransactions. I give it 10\\10 (Sorry for my bad english, I'm french.). A well-designed, well-executed paragon of strategy gaming. In many ways, Rise of Nations is better than the strategy games that have come before it. It's smarter. It's more challenging. It gives you more to do. An enormous game. Classic real-time gaming simply doesn't get much better than this. It's a blast with friends as well..   I also want to share that the game is playable from beginning to end in my internal build. The stage I am at is play testing, polishing, side missions, and editing. The wait is almost over.

  I originally wanted to release my game this month, but Steam likes to have sales in the summer. Instead, I decided that it would be best to release my game and launch discount 30 days after the next Steam sale which is usually mandatory for spacing out sales on Steam. Because you've been so patient waiting for release, the next Steam sale is going to have a better discount than the traditional game launch discount and a little higher than I would normally put.

  An Epic Adventure that You are Apart of:
  
  I think you will be very pleased with how the story plays out. It's completely epic, and very unexpected. You will notice most of the Fantastic Artwork was saved for near the end.
  
  I tried to make each character enduring so choices will be hard... including that of romance. I originally wanted only one save file so choices would be permanent. These choices make it so you can really feel like you are the protagonist of the story.
  
  I also tried to make rewarding choices. The gameplay may be simple, but it allows for me to easily convey your choices in a way that other Visual Novels can't. But Omni Link is a visual novel first and a shooter game second. There is a ton of dialogue near the end.
  
  On easy difficulty, you may skip gameplay elements quickly with brute strength just to enjoy the story. The hardest difficulty is meant to be unforgiving, just like the Virus is in the story. When you lose a ship, it is gone forever. You may reach the end of the game with no ships and little chance of winning. As it should be.

  $2.99. Fired it up just to check it out, thought i would do other stuff. Three and a half hours later I write this. Even if I didn't play it ever again, it would be far more worth while than the $12 or so for the average two to three hour yawn fest movie. Much more entertainment dollar value to be found here for sure.
  It's pixely space shooty physics fun.
  You should buy this.. Fun, light shooter.
  
  Great graphic style, interesting upgrades, freeform play in an open play field, lightly punishing death mechanic, choose your own difficulty on the fly. I'm playing with keyboard and mouse, I bet it would be even more fun as a twin stick shooter.. 10\/10 Honestly! I was scrolling on steam store looking to 'waste' my cash on some game I honestly wouldnt play.
  I've bought over 30 games recently and dammmmm I was suprised to see this in the new feed with only one review!!!
  I opened it... ASTERIODS... Also I saw that little Minecraft easteregg by the way <3
  
  It's an honestly amazing game worth over $2.99
  I will play this in my spare time so much!
  Please keep it fresh with new updates often!!

  10\/10 would play nonstop. Space - The Return of the Pixxelfrazzer is a spectacular game.
  I'm always happy when "one of those" games falls into my hands.
  You know, the ones you start of without a clue of what you are doing but the game pully you in nonetheless and before you know it it's morning and you didn't get any sleep.
  
  This game defines itself through wonderful quirkiness.
  
  One time when I was shooting at asteroids for money, one asteroid transformed into a monster and ate me.
  Another time I was doing a quest, and when I was done the questobject suddenly killed me.
  
  Space is never what you expect in this game, and I'm loving it.
  
  Add to that the amount of detail besides having everything turn and eat you, and you realize this is a gem.
  
  There's a "wiggle" upgrade in the game, which is supposed to make you bullets wiggle.
  But, and I kid you not, the description text of said upgrade wiggles aswell.
  
  It's the small things that make you wonder and smile, and it's doing that all the time.
  I guess part of this comes by not explaining much besides the basics, so you're left with a universe of strangeness to figure out.
  
  The controls are more on the simulation side of things in normal mode, but then there's that other mode that's great for dodging and stuff.

  There is a lot of things to see
  You can freeze Planets.. It is what it looks like a pretty simple, 2D, top down space shooter with a huge proceedurally generated universe. I am enjoying it thoroughly. I was expecting to have finished it and figured out the pixelfrazzer by this point (about 10 hours of gameplay), but I have not yet... It is on the edge of feeling grindy at this point as I havent seen much new stuff in the last few upgrades of difficulty, but I will give it a few more hours and see how it goes.
